Hail to the Ale, Wolverhampton

A wonderful CAMRA award winning micro in a very dull suburb of Wolverhampton,it was a former small post office .Outside there is a small beer garden tucked down the side of the building,open to the elements with upturned pins as tables.Inside is on two levels ,initially open plan seating area with traditional furniture while up a couple of steps is more seating with the bar running along the back wall.Ale choices are shown on a chalk board while cider clips show whats available from the cellar,6 choices on my visit.There is a book case with copies of GBG's over the years,quite a few Viz magazines and board games.There is a lot of brewery paraphernalia on the walls and a series of Champion Beer of Britain winners on display in the unisex lav with a warning not to block the bog which will cause the micro to close.
The ale selection on my trip in strength order was Kinver Khyber (NBSS Very Good),Titanic Plum Porter (NBSS Very Good),Goffs White Knight,Newbridge Little Fox,Titanic Icerberg (NBSS Very Good) and Morton Essington Blonde (NBSS Very Good).With most pints around £3.90 and a CAMRA discount offered makes this an unbelievable value proposition given the exemplary quality.
Best ale I've had in Wolverhampton for a very long time,this is an absolute must visit and I will be back for another long and serious session.15 minute walk up from Oxley Marine on the Staffs & Worcs Canal.
